…when working in a preschool:
(i went to the loft today during my lunch break and tried on
the entire store so many cute things.
this sweater and scarf were among them.
sadly, the scarf was not on sale (and a whole 34 dollars), so i did not purchase it.
but it was fun to play dress up with.)
i have learned the hard way what is considered “work appropriate”
when you spend your days with infants.
of course we have the traditional business professional dress-code,
but really? black pants and skirts while holding babies?
getting covered in snot and spit up are only the beginnings of your average day.
there are the velcro shoes that get stuck to your tights.
and that baby sitting on your lap that had his diaper explode.
or your scarf being used as an extra-large tissue.
lunch will land in your lap.
everything must be washing machine safe.
don’t wear dresses. then you cannot lay down and snuggle with the babes.
a cropped shirt that is a bit too cropped and rides up when baby climbs on you.
necklaces = instant chew toys.
breast milk spilling all over your shirt when the nipple was not fully attached to the bottle
(someone else’s breast milk, too).
black pants. never. they show everything.
what does that leave you to wear?
sweats. pajamas. a poncho to protect from potential accidents.
no, but really. i wear normal clothes and hope for the best.
a little snot here and there is nothing in the scheme of things 🙂
