disclosure: a heartfelt thank you to the kimpton hotel monaco seattle and outlier for hosting us for a complimentary overnight. as per usual, all opinions are my own!
earlier this month, jenn, sahily, and i enjoyed an overnight at the kimpton hotel monaco seattle, located in the heart of downtown. we had the opportunity to experience the #stayhumanproject, onsite through december 31. nearly 20 kimpton properties across the country have curated this engaging, in-room experience for guests!
we invite you to immerse yourself in the history of seattle’s iconic music scene as well as learn about the captivating history and vibrant presence of our eclectic chinatown. with the help of a professionally curated soundtrack populated by legendary seattle musicians and in-room extras […], you’ll be treated to a unique chance to discover what it truly means to stay in seattle.” –source
set up in one of the larger guest rooms, the #stayhumanproject features unique, seattle-themed activities, including a “sounds of seattle” playlist; a denim jacket adorned with pins and patches (to be worn around the city); a guest book in which to write your favorite song lyric; a time capsule to memorialize part of the city; an origami installation (with supplies for guests to contribute origami cranes); framed photographs by seattle photographer, lance mercer; a robust coffee bar with a custom-coffee blend by caffe vita; and more!
in addition to the #stayhumanproject, the kimpton hotel monaco offers complimentary wifi for ihg® rewards club members, morning coffee and tea service, a nightly hosted social hour, pet friendly guest rooms (with no restrictions), bikes to ride around the city, and a yoga mat in each room. additional information regarding amenities and special offers can be found here.
we kicked off our staycation with snacks and drinks in our room, provided by the hotel’s restaurant outlier. after exploring all our room had to offer (and documenting the fun amenities on social media), we set out for a walk. we had to bring the denim jacket with us, of course!
upon returning to our room, we changed before heading out for a 6:00pm dinner reservation, also at outlier. i had heard great things about the restaurant — my parents often dine here — and was eager to check it out for myself. the girls and i opted to order a few different items off the menu to share. we started with the classic wedge salad and margherita pizza. for entrées, we chose the filet mignon and fresh alaskan halibut. a meal isn’t complete without dessert, and our waitress recommended the washington apple galette. everything we tried was delicious, and the halibut was my favorite — cooked in butter and herbs, and served with summer vegetables, the flavors were delectable!
after dinner, we went back to our room to relax. the #stayhumanproject guest room is incredibly spacious with a king size bed and large couch. it also offers an upgraded bathroom and soaking tub. we changed into pajamas, turned on a movie, and took it easy — the perfect girls’ night, in my opinion. =)
on sunday, jenn, sahily, and i planned to take photos and explore the nearby area. we were fortunate to have good weather, but before heading out, we took full advantage of the in-room coffee bar. i used the custom-coffee blend — by caffe vita — in our room’s french press. it was tasty! we also placed an order for room service with outlier. is there anything better? jenn and sahily ordered the two eggs any style, and i chose the market omelette.

before checkout, i captured additional photos of the room and added a song lyric to the notebook. i couldn’t help but jot down a verse from my favorite song by elton john, “your song.” and i enjoyed browsing what previous guests had included.
and you can tell everybody this is your song. it may be quite simple but now that it’s done, i hope you don’t mind, i hope you don’t mind that i put down in words, how wonderful life is while you’re in the world.” –elton john
learn more about this unique social experience here. as a seattleite, the #stayhumanproject was a fun, valuable experience, and i would think it beneficial for both local and out-of-town guests. i appreciate the hotel’s effort to connect guests with different aspects of seattle’s rich history and culture. i look forward to seeing what other kimton hotels offer in their #stayhumanproject rooms!
