‘the silent sister’ by diane chamberlain: this is my favorite book as of late! i read it in a day or two while in hawaii. it follows riley macpherson, a 20 something who has returned to her childhood home following the death of her father. while sorting through his possessions, riley learns a great deal about her family’s past, particularly her older sister who she thought committed suicide as a teenager.
‘what she knew’ by gilly macmillan: this book is also a page turner! recently divorced, rachel is working to put her life back together. she shares custody of their eight-year-old son, ben, with her ex-husband. while walking their dog through the woods, rachel lets ben run ahead to meet at the tire swing. when rachel arrives at the swing, ben is nowhere to be found!
‘the heart goes last’ by margaret atwood: this book was very intriguing. i was not expecting the plot to go in the direction it did, but overall, it’s a good read (especially if you’re a margaret atwood fan!). stan and charmaine are a married couple struggling to make ends during economic and social crises. unfortunately, they end up homeless and are living in their car. when the couple hears of the positron project, a project that promises shelter, food, and work, they are eager to join. however, as they learn and experience what the project is truly about, they begin to question their haste and decision to join.
