“valentine’s day is precisely what the spirit needs. it is hot chocolate for the soul. it is a bright splash of color on a stark white canvas. the day reminds us to reaffirm our love, or perhaps give voice to that which has remained unsaid.”–dorothy denneen volo
valentine’s day is around the corner. pink; tulle; hearts; candy; chocolate—i love it all. whether you’re celebrating a romantic relationship, friendship, or self-love, this particular holiday can evoke a myriad of feelings. (all the valentines-themed memes on this subject make me laugh.) i’ve never had particularly strong feelings towards the holiday—positive or negative—but love any excuse to eat chocolate and celebrate the people i love!
this year, i don’t have big plans for valentine’s day—i’ll be at work, of course—but i hope to do something fun! i attended a delicious galentine’s brunch last weekend. (i’ll share a separate post on that soon.) i purchased my dachshund valentine’s cards and now need put together a festive outfit.
with so many new year’s and president’s day sales happening online, i thought i would round up some chic, affordable styles for the holiday!

because i don’t have big plans for valentine’s day, i will likely keep my outfit casual. (though you never know—all these cute dresses and heels are inspiring.) i purchased my velvet floral-print jumpsuit last fall, and with hints of pink and red, i think it will be perfect for work and a dinner date! i’ll trade my black heels for red or add my pink teddy coat.
whatever your plans, i hope you have a wonderful valentine’s day! if you’re looking for additional inspo or gift ideas, i invite you to check out this post. sending love and hugs your way, and thank you for following along on my little corner of the internet. and of course, i’d love if you’d share what you’re planning to wear! xoxo.
