hi there, oh hi there! it’s been six months since i last posted on diary of this girl—w0w. i shared my desire/plan to take a break from blogging here, but i hadn’t intended for the break to be quite so lengthy.
one of my pet peeves about blogging (and sharing content on social media) is seeing influencers who post consistently, disappear, return to their platforms to share a sponsored post, and seemingly vanish again. (in fact, i recently vented to my blogger friends about this very topic.) and while i realize i am a hypocrite, it can be wholly necessary and therapeutic to take a break. if you think about it, so much of our personal lives is shared publicly, and we have little control over who is seeing this “content”—aka our lives.
well, i’m back. and i don’t plan to disappear again any time soon. while i stayed fairly active on instagram, i genuinely missed creating new posts on my blog. i have several draft posts in queue but wanted to quickly share what i’ve been up to:
1. i have a new job
clarification: i work for the same financial services firm.
in may, i transitioned out of operations into a hybrid position. i work in communications, supporting our content and communications lead and spend the rest of my time assisting our firm’s ceo and president. it’s much different from my previous role! i’m working longer hours, and while the work is draining at times, i’m infinitely happier. alas, i’m putting my editing certificate to use, and i greatly enjoy collaborating with and being mentored by our ceo!
2. we are engaged
oh my goodness—the highlight of my summer (and the highlight of my life thus far) was greg’s propsal on july 3, 2019, in lake chelan! i’ll share the full details in a separate post. we are planning our wedding for spring 2020, and as you can likely imagine, working full-time + planning a wedding is fun, but also very time consuming.
3. i moved
in august, i began moving into greg’s apartment. and let me tell you, moving is no easy feat (especially when you’re a clothing and shoe hoarder, like me). i’m thrilled to be living with greg, however. one of our greatest stressors was making time for each other within our busy schedules. (we previously lived 45 minutes from one another, and that doesn’t account for potential traffic delays.) it’s a blessing to know i’ll see him daily, and living together has made planning our wedding much, much easier.
4. we adopted a puppy
and to add more responsibility to our plates, we decided to adopt a puppy. 😉 we couldn’t be happier or more excited to welcome pepper, a 9-week-old boston terrier, into our home on october 6, 2019.
photos by hello rigby ; dress: taylor ; jacket: halogen (nordstrom) ; boots: mia via nordstrom rack (similar here)
well, albeit brief, that’s just a bit of what i’ve been up to over the last several months. i’ll share a recap of our engagement early next week!
